I've been messing around with MS Silverlight and have uploaded a version of my gallery using it. It's a lot easier to preview my dreams using this site. It requires you to install Microsoft's Silverlight, and runs on either FF and IE.

Check it out here: http://wcgallery.mooo.com/

Let me know what you think!

I was just looking at the top rated wallpapers to see what color/style was most popular (I think blue wins) and noticed that there isn't a single 10 rated wallpaper in 2004?!?!  What happened in 2004?  Was it seeing John Kerry's face all year suck the creativity out of everyone?

I guess they could have all been updated into another year.  All of them? Really?

I've finally finished reworking the Good Night Earth dream to make it spin half the speed it was, and also increase the resolution to improve detail.

I hope everyone is pleased! Get it here

If you purchased it, the update is free. Just go here: http://stardock.com/support/ and request your serial numbers & download information be resent to you.  Download links have expirations to them to help prevent piracy.  This will generate a new link for you to use.  (Thanks Zoomba...

So I have released a few dreams now that are 140MB.  What I have found is that I can pack high resolution and slow moving dreams into this file size.  The latest example is Utopia Prime which is 1792x1120 and 4 minutes long.  It seems to me that this is a very acceptable tradeoff of lower CPU usage with higher memory consumption.   I realize that not all people have 1920x1200 wide-screens, the fastest CPU, plenty of memory and high speed broadband, but the dreams I'm cur...

Is there a link to get to this forum from the main wincustomize forum?

Lately I've been getting more and more requests for the video file of my dream instead of the dream file.  When I first started, I had no problem with this, but now, I have many more dreams, and thus, have more requests.  Sure, I can take the time to upload all my dreams as videos to some file sharing site, but then once I send someone the link, it potentially becomes available to the whole world for download without giving me credit.  As I invest more time into this hobby of mine...

A few years back I did some music using Dance eJay.  They have been laying in my mp3 collection for a few years now, and I thought, what the heck, why not upload them for anyone who likes to listen to music from a nerd.

Thought I would give everyone a preview of my next Master Skin. The planet spins while the blue nebula whips around the planet. I've always been a big fan of the blue background and this fits the bill nicely. It also makes a nice wallpaper

UPDATED 2/26/08: I've updated the image and animated preview to the latest render. The preview is only a partial render so it doesn't loop. I've also created a Login Studio Skin and my first wallpaper submission. The final product will be 1172x1120...

Tools of the Dream TradeOver the past year I've gotten many inquiries about what tools I use to make my dreams.  So I've finally decided to write something describing how I ended up using the tools I do and hopefully help others get started making there own creations.

The first dreams I did were done using HD video found on the internet that I simply looped. Under Water is an example of one of my looped dreams.  Looping video dreams require you slowly fade the beginning...

I just wanted to wish everyone luck who entered the Alienware contest!

There are lots of great entries competing! Don't suppose WinCustomize will be posting updates by announcing the top 10, then top 5 and so on? Or maybe like the reality TV shows where you announce which ones remain in and which ones are out?

I thought I would preview my new render of the Earth. It's going to take 3 days to render the entire rotation of the earth in the one minute video, so I was hoping for some feedback before I let it run for the entire 3 days.

The dream will be one minute long and will follow the sunrise around the Earth.

EDIT 10/16/07: Changed the view to have space on top left and flow the morning around.
EDIT 10/19/07: I think I got the atmosphere done and lowered the altitude of the clouds

Are WMV slow for you? Make sure you have DirectX Video Acceleration for WMV files enabled.

1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Press ALT on the keyboard to show the menu.
3. Choose Tools then Options
4. Click the "Performance" tab.
5. Check the "Turn on DirectX Video Acceleration for WMV file" option.
6. Press OK and close Windows Media Player.

I hope this helps some users with terrible WMV performance.

I made my Apollo DreamScene a few months back where you fly around the Moon and Earth. I got a few requests to have a version that just sits and orbits the Earth only. I am unable to post that version on the website, so I'm going to use this blog to track any changes I make to it.

NEW TRIGGERED VERSION (6/14/07): From 6am to 6pm, the dayside is shown, and from 6pm to 6am, the night side is shown.

Orbit is now an exclusive of VistaDreams.org

Thanks, Master Baron

I was curious if it's OK to upload my Orbit dream into my personal page only, even though it was denied because it too close to Desktop Earth?

If you have tried my "Living Blue Wallpaper" and "Turbulence" in MPEG2 format and had trouble, could you please try again. I have re-encoded using TMPGEnc to hopefully fix compatibility issues. Please let me know if still are having issues with the dreams.

I'm going on the assumption that it will work and I'm in the process of re-uploading all of the MPEG2 versions I already did and will update the description saying that it's been re-encoded. Should be done tomorrow.

Thanks everyone, a...
